Glamour Shots

I found out what GPOY meant. I'm not sure that was the best discovery.

Vintage Motorcycle Jacket, H&M x Versace Sweater, Naked and Famous Denim, Nike Air Jordan 3, Hermés Bag

There are a couple of things I want to share with you all. First, I "borrowed" my brother's Jordan's after rolling my ankle during Christmas. No one is more surprised than I am, but somehow they go great with everything. I've never been a sneaker head so the borrow was purely out of necessity. Walking with a rolled ankle is impossible in unforgiving, leather brogues. Jordan's became my orthopedic shoes and my ankle's best friend. Two words: ARCH SUPPORT. Also, here is a close up of my initials stamped into the reverse side of the touret on my black Birkin. I like my monograms discreet, so this is the place I chose for all of them.

Yesterday, I finally styled a shoot after a long hiatus of active creative work. It was so much fun! The theme I conjured was "a motorcycle jacket for every man." My collection of outerwear has grown over the years, resulting in a strange mixture I am fond and proud of. Looking at the variations on one consistent item in my wardrobe (leather jackets) showed me how I came to my current styling choices. I have been so confused about my attraction to random styles, trying to make Rick Owens and J.Crew fit together. Perhaps it all makes sense when you look at the OCD preppy phase in my youth, the vintage/glam adventures I had in college, my quest for androgynous perfection, big brother's influence throughout my life, and my label obsessions in between.

Calamansi

Stella McCartney SS2011

During Christmas I was walking around my parents' garden and came across our calamansi tree. This tree was a small bush when we moved in, but it has grown into a magnificent part of our family. It bears the most delicious fruit. Calamansi is one of my favorite citrus flavors which I grew accustomed to from my Filipino heritage. The sun was shining down on the tree in such a way that was perfect for photographing. Calamansi reminds me of Stella McCartney's Spring prints from earlier this year.

As the Spring 2012 collections make their way into stores, I am excited to be planning my move to New York. My vacation plans to the Philippines and Hong Kong already have me stressed, but I think everything will run smoothly as soon as I return. Fashion week is but a month away and it will be my first time experiencing the harsh East Coast winter. Hopefully the end of March will be different for my move. I cannot wait for Spring!

Jerome Pour Homme Pour Tumblr

I started a tumblr! It will serve mainly as a "greatest hits" kind of page where I will post some of my favorite outfits. I think I will also post some of my favorite nightlife photos. Nothing has really been decided yet, but it is fun to play around with the possibilities. Follow me! Also, please comment if you have any suggestions for great tumblrs to follow. Interior design and fashion tumblrs are perfect for inspiration.

Obey the Kitty Launch Party

I am working a new party at Vessel San Francisco. It feels great to be behind the camera again. There are some photographic opportunities that never happen here the same way as in smaller, dirty nightclubs, but maybe this is a sign of growing up. Larger venues can be intimidating, but I instantly vibed with the crowd. I love to see people who dress to impress!! Hosted by the lovely ladies of Betsey Johnson, Obey the Kitty is a new weekly party that brings an excellent mix of fashion, art, and music. Click on the pictures to view the gallery.

An Open Letter to Marc Jacobs and Bryanboy

Dear Marc Jacobs and Bryanboy,

Hello! My name is Jerome, and I am writing to you both from San Francisco, California. You probably have never heard of me (yet/until now, ha!), but I wanted to tell you how inspired I am from the recent photos I have been seeing from fashion week.

Marc, you've got the brains, the brands, the boy, the body, and the Birkin. Your creativity captures my heart yet again with clothes and bags I cannot possibly live without. From the moment I saw it, I knew the Néo bag was to be mine. I acquired the Monogram, and I am still desperate for a piece of the Eden collection... specifically the flat bag with tassels and tails. I was ready to surrender my savings for both the Néo and the flat bag, but to my severe dismay the latter never went into production.

Bryanboy, your relevant point of view and success has my respect as a Filipino trying to make it in the fashion industry. I never dreamed I would see a fashion Filiblogger reach such heights. I feel so proud that pinoys have Pacquiao in boxing, and Bryanboy in blogging. I smiled really big while reading your tweets about your visit to Condé Nast yesterday. I follow your twitter, so you can imagine the awkward earsplitting homo shriek jaw dropping action that occurred when I saw this picture during my commute to work:

Now, I propose that we keep those Eden Flat Bags all in the Filiblogger family. The Khaki looks beautiful on you, Bryanboy. And Marc, that is my favorite color from the collection; though favorites are next to impossible when the Argent and Pêche are just as gorgeous. So please consider passing on (or selling) the other flat bag to me. It would be an honor to carry it, and I promise to give it a good home. You will not regret it. I will even work for (either) of you. In any case, I will continue to be your loyal customer and reader, and possibly employee! All I would like is that bag, but you will get an employee out of it... an excellent return on investment. (see, I even know about things like ROI!)

I am currently working hard to make it as your peer (both of you) one day, but until then, keep doing what you do and please think about my offer.

Sincerely (serious),

- Jerome

IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO GET THIS LETTER TO EITHER BRYANBOY OR MARC JACOBS, OR IF YOU KNOW HOW I CAN GET THE BAG, PLEASE EMAIL ME IMMEDIATELY.

UPDATE 10/16/12 - WTF WAS I THINKING. Even I can't fake liking these two enough to get swag ("swag" back in my day meant "stuff we all get.")

Introductions

Hi. My name is Jerome, and I am very pleased to meet you.
(And I am wearing: Shirt by Cosmic Wonder, Shorts by See by Chloe, Shoes by John Varvatos, Canon Rebel Xti)

I am 23 years of age, recently graduated from college with a degree in Fashion Marketing and Management, and currently figuring out what life is like when school is finished. Academics never seemed so finite during finals, but now that it is time to get a job, I sometimes wish I could just stay in school forever.

I decided to start this blog to keep track of everything. I have a deep love for fashion, a new found passion for cooking, and an affinity for creative problem solving. If you are interested in any of these things, I am sure we can find something to talk about.

I am not exactly sure what the first blog post should be about, but I assume establishing purpose is in order: fashion, art, and culture (whatever that means). Pictured here is an illustration of what I am wearing. I find that drawing my outfits is a great way to add in things I wish I had. It is like a visual dressing room, to add things to an ever growing, impossibly long shopping list of clothing, shoes, and accessories. But sometimes I get lazy, and I will probably post some photos.
