Is That What the Doctor Ordered?

Dr. Martens AW2011 Campaign

Aggy and Ash star in Dr. Martens' Fall 2011 Campaign. The rude boy styling is pretty sweet, and I think it is time to get some white socks again. These tasseled loafers are absolutely adorable! You know me, anything with tassels and a kilt and I am all over it. However, there is the small predicament that they are incredibly close to the Burberry Prorsum Tasseled Loafers I already have in black and white. Dr. Martens is confusing me with more options!

Burberry Prorsum Tasseled Loafer in Clove Brown with Amber Sole $595 VS Dr. Martens Adrian Shoe in Burgundy $170

Check out these horrible pictures of two options for my next tasseled loafer. I already know that the thick gum soles are extremely comfortable on the Prorsum shoe. Dr. Martens are extremely resilient, but they are notorious for a lengthy break-in process. Is it silly to get two colors of the same shoe? I mean, my track record proves that I have no problem buying multiple colors of the same thing. Considering the fact that the Adrian is the color of a shoe I already DO have, I might already have my decision made. However, the price difference is a bit severe. #firstworldprincessproblems

UPDATE: I WENT WITH THE BURBERRY PRORSUM LOAFERS!

Captain Brunch

Tee by Dries Van Noten, Shorts by Carven, Belt by Hermés, Loafers by Burberry Prorsum

The summer heat of New York really solidified my love for a good pair of shorts. I had no luck at Barney's in menswear when searching for the perfect pair, but I lucked out during the summer sale some months ago. These Carven shorts are very comfortable, and the silk and cotton blend of the fabric made it great for the weather. I wish it was summer already in SF! I also got a pair of the Burberry Prorsum AW2011 Tasseled Loafers with the thick, white, rubber sole. They make me about 1.5" taller and are one of the most comfortable pairs of leather shoes I own! I am ready to brunch, y'all.

Can't Get You Out of My Head

3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2011 Shoes

A few days ago a friend of mine posted a picture of his new Phillip Lim shoes. Gasping with envy I made it my mission to track down a pair, but due to my ignorance I failed to realize what season the shoe was from. I mean, how am I supposed to get a pair of RUNWAY SAMPLES?? Good thing this spring, Lim has brought back the tassel motif. The shape of these boots are perfect. My favorites are the monk strap shoes. Looks like I have to keep eating cup-of-noodles for dinner my work cut out for me.

Jeepers Creepers

Shirt by Uniqlo, Tee by 3.1 Phillip Lim, Khakis by J.Crew, Creepers by Demonia

Halloween is over, but the Day of the Dead is still on! This is a good time to finally debut my creepers. I am not sure why I was suddenly attracted to these puppies. It may have been a natural footwear purchase after my obsession with finding a platform heel boot for men. The search for shoes that make me taller without having to buy an actual woman's shoe is tiring. During one googling session I came across a pair of creepers. I thought back to how my college roommate grew 3" before my very eyes whenever he put them on. So I went to eBay and got my first pair - in leopard no less. Why? WHY NOT??!! I went with the leopard because I am eying another pair of leopard shoes, so this would be a 2-fold test drive.

The sole of the shoe is a little more than 2" thick but the actual shoe is cut quite low, making them a bit tricky to walk in if you do not have any experience walking in heels. Luckily I wore nothing but 3" cowboy boots for a solid year in high school so my level is a bit more advanced than the average homo Joe. Still, creepers are not for those with weak ankles. When I put them on I measure up to about 6'2". Mission accomplished!! With more research my friends told me that their favorite brand was T.U.K. and I might invest in some wing tip or all black/white creepers for the next pair.

As an added bonus, this pair comes with a secret compartment hidden under the sole. So even though I am wearing khakis I can still be somewhat gothic. The miniature coffin is perfect for my chapstick or emergency cash or garage door opener or something. Or something.
